Seasons of a Funding Partnership
A 9-month retainer with a community-based nonprofit began with urgent grant-writing needs and grew into a broader partnership focused on funding strategy, research, and organizational planning.
I worked closely with leadership to respond to changing priorities and community needs, explore new program ideas, and identify funding opportunities.
Our efforts resulted in nearly $100,000 in confirmed grant awards and a large philanthropic gift, as well as a strong pipeline for future awards.
From Immediate Needs to Future Planning
Winter: Responding to Immediate Needs
Began with time-sensitive grant applications and funding requests. Developed an emergency funding narrative to help communicate urgent community needs.
Spring: Building a Stronger Funding Strategy
Expanded into grant prospect research, funder outreach, and organizational messaging. Worked with leadership to identify funding priorities and make the case for ongoing operating support.
Helped shape funding narratives for an entrepreneurship program, a community collaboration hub, and youth educational programs. Regular strategy sessions supported discussions about program design and future direction.
Spring - Summer: Adapting to New Priorities
Summer - Fall: Shaping Funding Narratives for New Initiatives
Shifted attention to cultural festival funding research and sponsorship strategy, including tailored approaches for banks and construction companies.
Fall: Building a Future Funding Pipeline
Conducted more targeted foundation, corporate, and public grant research. Helped prioritize opportunities based on funding potential, organizational needs, and available capacity.
